EDUCATIONAL MENTORING THROUGH THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES

www.emtah.org
The EMTAH (Educational Mentoring through the Arts & Humanities) approach incorporates strength-based creative arts instruction and mentoring to help students recognize their strengths, develop character, and become self-motivated and personally responsible. EMTAH believes that three of the most important characteristics of a successful human being are a well developed sense of ethics, the ability to think independently, and the desire to deeply understand oneself. EMTAH helps people cultivate these qualities through its progressive strength-based arts mentoring approach. EMTAH can also provide the turning point for at risk students by freeing their innate desire to grow out of their cocoon of isolation, self-consciousness and fear of failure. Teachers hold students to high standards while adjusting to diverse learning styles, abilities and needs.
REGENERATE
http://www.regenerate.org
Regenerate was formed in response to the alarming number of teenage traffic deaths nationwide and is comprised of leading media production and distribution professionals enabling outstanding and underprivileged youth to create PSAs, entertaining and educational programming for grass roots (e.g., schools, government programs, city and public access TV) and national television (e.g., MTV, Fox, network, cable, syndication), radio and internet distribution. Regenerate enriches the youth who work on its projects (behind and in front of the camera) while creating more effective educational tools to address today’s pressing teen issues. More effective, because at the end of the day, youth will listen to youth.
A WINDOW BETWEEN WORLDS
www.awbw.org
A Window Between Worlds is dedicated to using art to help end domestic violence. Through creative expression, battered women and children recover a sense of renewal and power. Their images of hope, survival and strength educate the public and become “a window between worlds” for survivors taking steps to change their lives. By providing an environment that promotes healing, art workshops help women and children to develop a renewed sense of hope and possibility that profoundly impacts future decisions regarding the direction of their lives, their relationships, and how to stay safe. Art empowers survivors to transform how they view themselves, allowing them to see past the abusive messages they learned from their batterers and rebuild their self-confidence.
